The Canon EOS R7 is expected to make waves later this year as an affordable entry to the Canon RF System.

The Canon EOS R5, R6, and the R3 are all phenomenal cameras and finally another camera is joining their ranks.

According to Canon Rumors, the Canon EOS R7 announcement date has been pushed back to August this year.

Rumored Canon EOS R7 Specifications

The Canon EOS R7 specifications include a 32-megapixel APS-C BSI Image Sensor, 20 fps burst, and a DIGIC X processor.

It is expected to have two card slots. One CFexpress and another for a regular SD card.

Videographers are up for a treat as well as it is rumored to have a 4K 60fps video mode and a 1080p 240fps for super slow motion. It will also feature C-Log 3.

Extra features include the latest hot shoe design from Canon.

The body is expected to carry over the ergonomics of the Canon R5 and R6.

As usual, these specifications are all rumors at the moment. However, Canon Rumors have a high hit rate when it comes to these claims.

Canon set to boost the RF lens lineup

The Canon EOS R7 lens mount is still unknown. But there is a high chance that it will be an RF Mount - making the first APS-C RF camera from the company.

According to Canon, the company will launch 32 new lenses in the next four years.

If rumors that the R7 will have an APS-C sensor is true, then the upcoming RF lenses will include crop-sensor compatible models.

Canon is currently a contender on top with its full-frame mirrorless cameras. Its lens lineup is solid as well.

According to Canon CEO, Fujio Mitarai, "we have established a solid position in mirrorless cameras, and are now in a situation where we can target the top market share position."

With that being said, if Canon is confident with its top models right now, then it is time for them to enter a more affordable market, and its first entry to that would be the Canon R7.
